OH !! and one more thing I can not go without mentioning… The many Harry Potter references! I’m a big harry Potter fan so that made my geeky heart skip a beat everytime a reference poped up! I want to write a spoiler free revieuw so i can not go in to depth on the story itself but all I can say is that I really liked it !Īll the little twists and turns, the scary ghosts, the friendly ghosts, the traveling to scary places, the way she discovers what she really is and can do and how it ends,… The characters that need a back story have one (like one of the big bad ghosts she is a bit scary!) The main characters are well build, you don’t get much of a back story but thats not necessary for the story. The story itself builds up nicely and keeps my attention grabbed from the first till the last page!Īnd thats a good thing because my attention has a tendency to run off on a unicorn shooting right in to space and be lost up there forever… That has probably something to do with it beeing a middle grade book but that does not mean it was childish. It’s a small book, the writing style is easy and has a nice pace to it so that even I, a not native english speaker can read and understand it very easily.
I started this book with the thought of me in need of a big diaper (cuz of the paranormal content and me beeing a big fat wuss) and probably not able to finish it but I did and it was not as scary as I thought it would be ! (or I all of a sudden had my big girl panties on and was very brave :p) Gerne: Young adult, Fantasy, Middle grade, Paranormal
To wrap it up it was not as scary as I expected it to be and I really enjoyed reading it! Maybe because it kinda scared me, I’m a big wuss and don’t like scary stuff (ghosts, blood, all paranormal stuff) She is one of my favorite authors I have no idea why I waited so long to read this fun little book! Like the tittle says it’s gonna be a review about ‘ City of ghosts by Victoria Schwab’. I have a million excuses for it but now I’m sitting my ass down, pull myself togheter and write a review about the book I just finished. I’ve read a ton of books but never got to write a review about it…
